As I was switching over to watch the Illinois game last night CBS was finishing up a story on Northwestern. Did anyone see it? The desk was commenting about how NU players at least had a good sense of humor.
The SEC had a record 14 teams in the Tournament, but only 8 made it to Saturday.
The Big Ten only had 8 teams, all of them made it to Saturday. That’s a tournament record.
Well, we almost got a Michigan-Michigan State matchup for tomorrow but now it’s looking like we may see just the second time that all the #1 seeds made it to the Final Four. (2008)
I wouldn’t count Izzo out yet, though, that man is a coaching wizard in March.
Cinderella left the building fairly early this year, all that’s left are 4 #1’s, 3 #2’s and a #3.
I wonder how no Cinderellas affects viewership? Personally I watched very little of the tournament this year, although I did follow the scores on the first Thursday-Friday.
I had MSU losing to Houston in my bracket so yesterday afternoon was my last hope.
I mostly followed the games involving Big Ten or Big Twelve schools, but don’t have a lot of interest in ACC/SEC basketball, either. (And to be honest, I’m still dealing with Houston being a Big Twelve school.)
So I don’t know how much I’ll watch of the Final Four this weekend, and we’ve got theatre tickets on Saturday that probably conflict with the semi-finals. The Cubs may also have games that conflict with the Final Four, I haven’t looked at their schedule that closely yet. (The Cubs have been playing in Japan and out west, but now they have to play in Chicago weather, so I would expect run production to tail off,)
I’m still following Nebraska in the also-ran tournament known as the College Basketball Crown, though I still wonder why Indiana or Ohio State didn’t get into either the NIT or the Crown, maybe they turned an invitation down?
