I haven’t seen the final count on signees, but ESPN ranked them 70th, and said they did a good job keeping their in-state targets.
The Trib has a list of 20 signees and ranks the class 61st.
The transfer portal is going to be interesting this time around because schools have to cut their rosters to 105 at some point. Nebraska has about 150 players right now and just signed 20 more. There are probably a lot of other schools that are going to be telling players they don’t have a slot open for them in 2025, and it would not surprise me if more than few of those have trouble finding an offer somewhere.
The NCAA/courts have done what the Big Twelve, the Big Ten, and several inept coaches and AD’s couldn’t do, kill off the Nebraska walk-on program.
The ‘Cats lost two starters to the portal yesterday and today. NIL and the portal are making it hard to hold onto players NU develops.

That’s just the way things are gonna be, assuming they don’t get worse. (Entropy suggests they will.)
Mack Brown, after being fired at NC, said he thought he was no longer able to coach in this new era. I think a lot of coaches are finding that being the head coach means paying more attention to roster issues than prepping for games. New coaches who move up from coordinator roles have a lot of new skills to master, and not a lot of time to master them at most schools. As much as I loved Fitz, I don’t think he figured out how to utilize the transfer portal/NIL issues. David Braun had a rough second year/first full year, let’s hope he learned from it.
We were going to have 9 out of our 11 all B1G selections returning next year, however Josh Thompson was one of those entering the portal.
8 out of 11 ain’t bad I suppose.
My 2 big things to fix:
Red zone offense
End of the half ball control
Both cost us innumerable points including the last one which I think was 5 games in a row allowing points in the last 2 minutes before half.
Something I noticed more announcing teams commenting on this year was the ‘middle 8’ minutes, the last 4 minutes of the first half and the first four minutes of the second half. I think NU lost that portion of the game a lot in 2024.
