A novel concept in basketball - allowing defenses to play defense

Interesting WSJ article (hope the link works), maybe the NCAA will try something similar, during the Tournament I saw too many defensive fouls and not enough offensive fouls.

I guess the defensive fouls that used to be offensive fouls for charging? or the obvious travelling when players break for the basket?

I don’t have a WSJ subscription so I couldn’t read the whole article, but if you get called for a defensive foul every time you try to stop the other team, you eventually figure out that you can’t stop them, no matter what you do… Its kinda like Pass Interference in Football.

Even the college game is letting players get away with at least 3 steps on a dunk. Why don’t they just bring out the springboard and allow style points?
