AAC adds a team

Every conference has its goals in realignment, and the AAC will realize one of its goals today when they announce that Army will join as a football-only member, replacing SMU.

Army has been an independent throughout most of its history though it was in Conference USA from 1998 to 2004.

The annual Army-Navy game will remain as a non-conference game played after the AAC Championship game, and they will not meet in the regular season. In the event that they both qualify for the AAC Championship, they’d play back-to-back games.

Just as an aside to this most of last year’s AAC we’re member of CUSA when Army was a member.
