There were several rumors over the past few years that Fitz would become the HC at Iowa. Maybe they should have taken him ; I doubt he would have allowed or participated in such transgressions

what the head coach doesn’t know apparently is OK now.
I’ll be interested to see if Michigan State’s reputation for dirty play is affected by Fitz.

I’m not yet convinced that Fitz will be successful in the current football era, but at MSU he will not have the same limitations on NIL and steep academic requirements that Northwestern has, and MSU will not give him the same leeway for past results that he had at Northwestern, either. After what Indiana did last year, very few power 4 schools will give a new coach 5 years to produce a winning team.
