Didn’t get relayed the first time, trying again.

The AAUP members at Northwestern are upset that they weren’t given an opportunity to vett the new NU President.

Interesting as he is an engineer academically He is also China born.
Hopefully he can turn around the presidency which we feel has coasted since Arnold Weber turned things around.

Well if Bienen and Morty were coasting, they did a great job sitting around, as NU ‘s academic reputation improved ( at least by the major ranking services) during their tenure

If you are only referring to athletics then ya Webber was at the top as he was able corral Barnett to be head coach when NU football was on its knees

Harry

Weber, it is 1 b https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arnold_Weber but not just athletics although he put in place all the important people and the hires afterwards even the popular Jim Philips have been questionable. As for academics and financial the turnaround started with him. We started NU in 1989 pretty much as Northwestern’s rankings nadir (hopefully admitting us wasn’t the cause in the ranking drop) and even though he wasn’t popular among students with things like the Marriott fka saga food contract and the lack Pepsi contract he put us on the path to the future. Bienen lucked into the Rose Bowl and Princess Di. Morty was popular with students but made some many missteps and poor hires.
