OT: U of Wisconsin fires its president

Not sports related, but when a fellow Big Ten school fires its president with little or no warning and no public explanation yet saying why, it’s something that might affect the conference and thus Northwestern.

According to a story in today’s Tribune, UW President Jay Rothman says he was asked to retire and when he refused, the Regents fired him, but did not answer his query as to the reasons for his dismissal.

I’m wondering if this has anything to do with the private equity deal that the Big Ten has been working on. (I’m wary of this deal, private equity deals tend to have bad outcomes, Walgreens is just one recent example and the mixture of private equity, college sports, pay-for-play and NIL just sounds like a disaster waiting to happen.)
