This is one area where I think the NBA does it a lot better than the NFL, players can declare for the NBA draft but keep their college eligibility. Too many football players declare for the NFL and wind up not hearing their name during the draft. Maybe they get a free-agent offer, maybe not.

Same thing happened after the last NCAA appearance… all the seniors took off, even if they could have come back… and it took us another how many years to get back?

I’m not sure that was the only thing that impacted the team after 2016-17, wasn’t the following season the year they redid the arena? But I really don’t want to see the Cats struggle for 5 seasons before putting together another good team. I’m even more worried about the football team.

I’ve been trying to send this message out for a while, it never gets to the list server. I think I’ve got it fixed now.
If someone of you are seeing it more than once in email, I apologize.
I tried reading the explanation of the NBA draft rules on Wiki, but it is really hard to follow.
I THINK that Boo can attend all the tryouts and even sign with an agent, but if he’s not drafted he can cancel the agency agreement and play another season in college. But I wouldn’t bet a lot of money on my having read it right.
Will Audige and Beran follow suit or decide to transfer? I don’t see either of them as major NBA prospects, but there could be some colleges needing their skills to round out their 2023-24 rosters. (Northwestern is one of them, of course.)

This year might be different, and with the big guy at Perdoo coming back…it might be very interesting.

Has Audige picked a new school yet? Is there still a chance he’ll come back for another season at NU?
My understanding is that he still could play at NU next year though it’s unlikely I hope that assessment is wrong
I think the thought out there is that he will go undrafted and then look to either sign as a free agent in the NBA or abroad But if he gets a real good offer of money and school ( think ACC) , I suspect he could be persuaded to play college 1 more year I did hear that he should be able to garner at least $200,000 in NIL money if he plays college another year. Don’t know if that’s accurate or not

I thought the rule was if you leave your name in the draft you lose all eligibility to play in college even if you goI undrafted.

I think like that movie with Clark Gable about the Civil War, that rule is “Gone With the Wind”

What I’m seeing online is that if a player hires an agent or declares for the NBA Draft a second time, then the player loses his college eligibility. I’m NOT going to try to wade through the NCAA site to confirm that!
