NU graduates 100% of its players. He’s only coached at places that graduate 2%
The possibility of bringing in an outsider as a head coach (interim or not) immediately is pretty mind-boggling. I’m not aware of any situation where this has happened less than two months before the season started.
Anybody not currently working may have a fair amount of baggage, like Orgeron does, and, to be honest, quite a few potential candidates who are currently working might have baggage that won’t surface until they’re put under the microscope.
And this is likely to be one of the most publicly scrutinized hires in football history, by people at NU, by the media and by those who just don’t like Northwestern or college football much.
Orgeron has denied having interest in the Northwestern job.
