Transfer Portal

I saw a recent post on ESPN that said among FBS schools just over 20% of the players on rosters this season were transfers from another school.

The transfer portal doesn’t officially open until next Monday, but there must be two dozen QBs who’ve said they transferring already. Expect that number to at least double in the next few weeks.

Nebraska’s Matt Rhule spoke plainly this week when he said that the going price (in NIL) for a good QB is between $1MM and $2MM, and that there are some players making $6MM.

I hope all those TDs in the transfer portal aren’t expecting to be millionaires in 2024.

Some of these quarterbacks will be making more than their coaches.

Well, Jim Harbaugh should be familiar with that from his time in the NFL.

So far it appears that Ohio State starting QB Kyle McCord is the biggest name in the transfer portal, which opened today.

Oklahoma starting QB Dillon Gabriel also entered the portal.

A Washington Post story quotes ESPN as saying that in the first day of the transfer portal window 1184 players registered, an increase of 409 over the first day last year.

This court ruling could mean players will have multiple bites at the transfer portal apple.
