The LA Bowl and the one in Detroit, most recently won by Northwestern, will cease operations.
Methinks a few more bowl games will fade away over the next few years, as the playoffs take a lot of the top teams out of the running (except for the bowl that are part of the playoffs, whether they really wanted that or not) and the likely move to a 16 team field will take two more teams out of the bowl pool. (And the Big Ten wants to move to a 24 team field??)
